Younger participants (ages 8+) are welcome in this class. We ask that students younger than 14 be accompanied by an adult.
What is SAORI? SAORI is an art form and weaving style that comes from Japan. It is joyful and easy to learn. Try your hands at this fun, color-blending, creative, and expressive weaving style!
This class begins with an introduction to SAORI weaving. This instructor will demonstrate how to use a SAORI floor loom. Students will then select their weaving materials. The instructor will provide a variety of textured yarns in a wide array of colors- you’re also welcome to bring your own. From here, you’ll dive into “freestyle” weaving. SAORI is perfect for children and enjoyable and relaxing for adults. No experience necessary!
Equipment Note: Student will weave on pre-warped SAORI looms provided by the instructor. Materials Note: The instructor will provide a variety of yarns for students to use. Students are also welcome to bring yarn, roving, and other materials of their own to use.
Skill Level and Prerequisites- This class is open to all students. No previous experience needed.
