Autism Awareness Training for 1st Responders & Law Enforcement

Autism Friendly Austin part of the Hormel Historic Home is hosting trainer Dennis Debbaudt, a professional investigator, law enforcement trainer, author, advocate, and most importantly a proud parent of a young man diagnosed with Autism.
Target Audience: Police, Public Safety, Fire and Rescue, First Responders, Emergency Management Professionals, Mental Health Liaisons, and Social Workers.
(a secondary program focused on caregivers will be held on October 2, 2024 – a separate Facebook event will be created for the October 2 program, but there is more information on our website)
The first responder trainings are designed to educate individuals about the challenges associated with ASD that may impair communication between individuals with ASD and first responders. Professionals trained to interact with those who are diagnosed with ASD may avoid miscommunications, unnecessary detainments, and injuries.
